This Privacy Policy explains how Geethanjali Gopala Krishnan ("I", "me", or "my") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Readico app on iOS and Android ("the App"). I am committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who I Am

2. What Information I Collect

Readico collects only the information you choose to provide during setup and use of the App:

• Personal details — your name, date of birth, gender, email address, and phone number
• Health information — your medical conditions, allergies (including severity), previous surgeries or procedures, and blood type (optional)
• Medication information — medication names, dosages, units, and frequency
• Doctor details — the name, surgery/practice, address, and phone number of your doctor(s)
• Next of kin — emergency contact name and phone number
• Symptom logs — symptoms you record, including severity and notes
• Dose logs — records of when you take, skip, or miss medications
• Voice input — voice recordings are processed locally on your device using your device's native speech recognition (Apple's Speech Recognition framework on iOS, Android's on-device speech recognition on Android). No raw audio is transmitted to or stored by Readico.

3. How I Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to provide the features of the App:

• Displaying your health profile and medication schedule
• Generating doctor visit preparation summaries
• Tracking medication adherence and symptom logs
• Sending local reminders on your device

I do not use your information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the App's core functionality to you.

4. How Your Information Is Stored

Your data is stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in the European Union (eu-west region), which complies with GDPR requirements for data storage and processing within the EU/EEA. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

Your account is protected by Firebase Authentication. Only you can access your own data.

5. Who I Share Your Information With

I do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for commercial purposes. The only third-party service used is Google Firebase for secure data storage and authentication, acting as a data processor under a Data Processing Agreement with Google.

6. Voice Data

When you use voice input features, your speech is processed using your device's built-in speech recognition:

• On iOS, this is Apple's on-device Speech Recognition (SFSpeechRecognizer) and AVFoundation frameworks. Apple may transmit audio to Apple's servers for processing depending on your device settings. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles speech data.
• On Android, this is Android's built-in speech recognition. Depending on your device and settings, audio may be processed on-device or transmitted to Google's servers for processing. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google handles speech data.

In both cases, Readico itself does not receive, store, or transmit your raw audio recordings.

7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data I hold about you
• Rectification — correct any inaccurate data (you can do this directly in the App under Account → Edit Profile)
• Erasure — request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Restriction — request that I restrict processing of your data
• Portability — request your data in a portable format
• Object — object to processing of your data

8. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as you have an active account. If you request deletion of your account, all personal data associated with your account will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

Readico is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact me and I will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
